Thank you very much for visiting our website. We want to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about ourselves.
This is a photo of Our Lady of the Assumption. We're located in Harlingen, Texas. We have more than 2,000 registered families.
The address is 1313 W. Buchanan Avenue.
If you're interested in the history, vision and mission statement, you can read about that at this link.
This page is meant as a more causal introduction.
What Should I Expect When I Visit?
Hopefully, the first thing is you'll feel welcome. We often have greeters near the front door to say hello.
If you don't remember the responses or the songs, don't worry. We have three large projection screens (two in front and one on the back wall) and televisions on the balcony and in the baby room, where the words will be on display during weekend Masses.
If you're wondering about attire, you can see photos of some of the Masses to see what other parishioners wear.

About The Masses
We have Masses here Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. You can find a list of Mass times by clicking here. We will begin Masses with a rosary.
In July 2017, we started devotion Masses for Sacred Heart of Jesus on the first Friday of the month at 6 p.m. We also started a devotion Mas for the Immaculate Heart of Mary on the first Saturdays of the month at 7 a.m.

Of course, special occasion Masses often last much longer.
About The Church Building
When you enter from the main doors, there's a baptismal fountain. To the right, you'll see a table with informational pamphlets and bulletins.
A hallway on the right leads to the chapel, which is also used as a baby room during weekend Masses. Attached to the chapel is a small room used for confessionals. (Click here for confession times.)
To the left of the main doors is another hallway. There, you'll find the restrooms, as well as stairs leading to the balcony seating area.
There's plenty of room in the balcony seating. That's also where the choir sits. There's a section reserved for them. There are two other sets of stairs leading to the balcony. Those are found to the left and right of the main church seating area.
(If you sit in the balcony during the weekend Masses, a priest or Eucharistic minister will often walk up the stairs to distribute Communion.)
What Is San Felipe Neri?
This is a photo of San Felipe Neri Mission. It's a smaller church that is also part of the Our Lady of the Assumption community.
It's located in Harlingen on Rangerville Road, across the Rio Grande State Center Outpatient Clinic. Masses are held here on Thursday nights and Sunday mornings. You can find a list of Mass times by clicking here.
San Felipe Neri is a lovely building, which was renovated a few years ago. There's a small hill next to it with a large cross. It's an especially wonderful setting during Stations of the Cross.
What's The Choir Like?
Music is an important part of the Mass, but this is a difficult question to answer. Each of the Masses has a different choir. You might hear the piano, guitar, and trumpet at one Mass, catch the harmonica player in another, or hear someone strumming a guitar during a weekday Mass.
How Active Is The Parish Community?
There are several ministries active in the parish. If you'd like to know more about them, please visit the ministries page.
